Pavel Janák was responsible for the Baba Estate and lived in this house.
Description
Originally planned as a semi-detached house, however, like the other houses in the estate, it was designed as a single family house. The construction consists of bricks with concrete ceilings. During the last reconstruction, thermal insulation was applied, which greatly changed the original proportions of the house. All other works are based very closely on the templates.
It seems interesting to us that a garage was inserted in the ground floor on the left at the beginning. Nowadays, these areas are used for living.
On this website are some historical pictures. They are very helpful, as the garden is very overgrown these days, making the north facade hardly visible.
History
This house was the architect's private house. The house was inaugurated on 29 November 1932. He was the main actor for the regulation and conception of the Baba Estate. Some of the houses on Nad Paťankou Street overlook Prague and Prague Castle. In 1936 Janák became the chief architect of Prague Castle, so that his two centres in life had a direct visual connection.
