Walther Merz

It is said, that Walther Merz studied architecture in Munich and Karlsruhe until 1921. After working for a short time in Chemnitz, he moved to Karlsruhe in 1928, to work for the city planning coucil. They prepared the contruction of the housting estate Dammerstock.

In the time of Nazi terror he was a member of the Nazi party NSDAP and coordinated contruction project. After World War II he became an major architect and referent for the reconstruction of Karlsruhe.
