Konrad Rühl

Sept. 2, 1885 in Szczecin, Poland
Aug. 24, 1964 in Düsseldorf, Germany

After completing his studies in Berlin, Konrad Rühl worked there in various roles, including for the state building authority. During this period, he began gaining experience in urban expansion and development projects. From 1919 onwards, he worked in Lübeck, from 1922 in Magdeburg in cooperation with Bruno Taut, and from 1928 in Düsseldorf.

He was pensioned off as early as 1934, which might suggest that he had difficulties with the Nazi regime in Germany. However, this does not appear to have been the case, as between 1942 and 1945 he worked in the Reich Ministry headed by Albert Speer.

After the Second World War, he contributed to reconstruction projects in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
