He learned from 1888 to 1890 at the Technical State Schools in Chemnitz and then worked as an architect in Leipzig. Until today, buildings of historicism and the reform era mainly in Leipzig, but also in Germany and Austria, are Wünschmann's work. After the First World War he slowly began to integrate elements of modernism into his work, but only a few of those buildings were built.
