Alois Dryák

Feb. 24, 1872 in Olšany, Czechia
June 6, 1932 in Prague (Praha), Czechia

Alois Dryák studied in Prague and was trained at a time when Prague was producing richly ornamented Art Nouveau buildings with floral motifs. Over time, he shifted towards Czech Cubism and eventually came into contact with the early forms of modern architecture. As he was responsible for constructing the wooden structures for the All-Sokol Rallye (Všesokolský slet) every four years, he was commissioned to design the new Strahov Stadium, first as a wooden constucture.
