The new building of the Mánes Association was designed as an exhibition and social house and built between 1928 and 1930. The opening of the building took place in on 29 July 1929. The chairman of the building committee was Josef Gočár, himself a member of Mánes, who ceremoniously handed over the building to the Mánes Association on 30 September 1930.
