Compared with the surrounding architecture, this house impressively illustrates the specifics of housing construction since the late 1920s.

Description

An impressive apartment house with seven floors. There are shops on the ground floor (three today) and six floors with 25 flats. The top floor is slightly set back with terraces, typical for Prague apartment buildings of the interwar period. Some parts of the terrace are covered by a metal pergola as a sunshade.

The right main part of the building on Štefánikova Street stands out as an avant-corps. The windows on that avant-corp are ribbon windows. The three rows of windows on the left consist of five parts, the right-hand ribbon windows have six parts, with one window part leading around the corner. The windows to the left are not classical ribbon windows.

The entrance to the house is on Zubatého Street. Above the entrance, the windows are divided into four parts. To the left, the flats on this side are featuring balconies. The right part of the house is only four storeys high and has eight four-pane windows.

The house is mostly covered with brown tiles.

The construction is probably made of reinforced concrete, but we do not have any information yet.

History

This house built between 1936 and 1937. In recent years there have been many disputes about who can own and buy the house, especially because many tenants own their flats.
