The factory of what was once the world's best cable car manufacturer.

Description

The office building no. 22 is a typical architectural representative of the 1930s: its shape, the windows, especially the oculus. Due to the different information from the sources, it is not clear whether the factory buildings date from around 1930 or were built around 1954. The administration building no. 16 is hardly mentioned, but could also date from around 1930. Some more buildings on the factory site date from around 1920, when the company Adolf Bleichert & Co bought the property.

History

The information about the buildings differ a lot. The Bleichert company bought the premises in Leipzig-Eutritzsch in 1920 to increase their production. An exact year, when these buildings were built, is unknown. The Leipzig monument protection estimates that the office building No. 22 was built around 1930. The same applies to factory building No. 24. In the history of Leipzig's industrial culture (Leipziger Industriekultur), all factories were dismantled after World War II and the halls blown up. That whould mean, that all halls are constructed after 1954, when the company started producing again. After 1991 the factorry's production ended. The office building remained a place for offices and supermarkets opened inside the factory buildings.
