The Italian Fascist Party with Benito Mussolini as head of the party. They used modern architecture to herald a new era for Italy. Thus, the architecture interpreted as democratic in many other countries, in the case of Italy on the contrary, modern architecture has mostly been interpreted as fascist. From 1935, the so-called Scuola Romana, which favored classical and heavy forms, became typical for the official, fascist architecture in Italy.
