Klub československých turistů

Nov. 13, 1918

In 1888, the Club of Czech Toursites (Klub českých turistů) was founded as the predecessor of this club. Immediately after the foundation of Czechoslovakia, it was renamed the Club of Czechoslovak Tourists (KČST) and became a a mass organisation. With the secession of Slovakia in 1939, the club ceased to exist. After a brief revival after World War II, the organisation was banned under communist rule. In 1989 it was re-established, but only as the Club of Czech Tourists (KČT), as the organisation is called until today.
