GEWOG Dresden

1927

GEWOG is an abbreviation for "Gemeinnützige Wohnungs- und Heimstättengesellschaft für Arbeiter, Angestellte und Beamte". It was a local network of the DEWOG movement for building affordable flats in Dresden. The managing director was the city councillor Richard Rösch. The architect and technical director was Hans Waloschek. Although the company GEWOG still existed as a name from 1933 to 1939, its democratic orientation was terminated in 1933. In 1939, GEWOG was transferred into the company "Neue Heimat".
