He was a architect and building official who worked mainly in Dresden. In 1924 he initiated the establishment of the "Zwingerbauhütte", which helped to save the Dresden's baroque Zwinger, which was in bad condition at the time. Many official buildings were designed by him, such as the university and healthcare centres. His work is most comprehensive in connection with the reform style of the 1910s and 1920s.
In the late 1920s, he adopted tendencies of modern architecture. This trend continued until the construction of Mary's Spring in Bad Elster. In 1935, he designed the former district court in Leipzig. The classicist structure of the building reflects the Nazi concept of architecture. Based on his year of birth, he must have retired in 1936.
