A semi-detached apartment block with large windows.

Description

Each of the semi-detached houses has three vertical, long window zones, which together produce an impressive length. These areas are slightly highlighted being part of a small avant-corps. The two outer window areas are set back. The ground floor for shops and the top floor are slightly set back from the main facade. This results in small roof terraces on the top floor. Between the individual flats, they are separated from each other with glass panes and with small walls between the two houses. On the courtyard side of the house a situated small balconies, which are stylistically elaborate for the back of the house, namely with partly round balconies and railings.

No. 27 has been already painted with a light colour, improving the architecture's lightness.

History

Some sources state that the house was built in 1932/33 (Wikipedia, Prázdné domy, Slavné vily, arch-pavouk). We decide to name the years 1935-1937 according to all the other sources, since the formal language of the house with its few wall surfaces and many window zones seems to speak more for the mid-1930s. It is one of many houses designed by the two Jewish architects Fürth and Mühlstein in Prague.
