Today's use: Signal box

Modernist architecture during the Nazi Era.

Description

The model of signal box is called VES 1912 (E43) according to its technical use.

A large ground floor represents the building's base. A tower-like house with three floors rises above it. The stairwell and several rooms are inserted. From the top floor a control bridge is attached at right angles to the building. It is supported at its end on the northern side by a pillar construction. The building adornments with clinker bricks and zigzag lines still bear traces of Expressionism from the 1910s and 1920s.

Once there were tracks under the bridge that had been removed.

Probably the architecture of this building was influenced by the style of Richard Brademann, who shaped the architecture of the Berlin railway and S-Bahn buildings between 1922 and 1939. Although the Nazis frowned upon modernism and this signal box was built during the Nazi rule, Brademann's influence could have been decisive that this style was still used.
