Leuna was and is a town connected with chemical factories. The first factories were opened before 1914. The loca river Saale was used as a public bath. But after World War I the river's quality increased so that was set a plan to built a public swimming pool. Next to the river was found a large meadow. The pool located off-the-beaten-path is reached via an arched bridge made of reinforced concrete that spans over the river Saale. Many of the buildings in the outdoor pool have been preserved in their original form, although the bath, like Leuna, was heavily bombed in 1945. Only the diving tower has been replaced and the former pergola of the main building has only been partially preserved.
Besides the architect Kurt Jahn is mentioned a person called Busse, named as draftsman.
