History

This small wooden pavilion in the middle of the forest served as a café from 1934. Architect and developer are unknown so far.

Hikers and spa guests from the spa town of Bad Brambach came to this place through the beautiful forest. The history of the place was very moving. The border with the Czech Republic is very close by. Due to the Prague Spring of 1968, public buildings in the former East Germany (GDR) on the border with what was then Czechoslovakia were closed. In 1971 the café was reopened. This image from the 1970s shows some furniture, most probably bought for the re-opening. The café closed shortly after 1990. Private individuals have now been found who are carefully renovating the house.
