Description

Originally, the house looked more elegant, which can be seen in a picture on this website. The house with a rounded and triangular floor plan houses a shop on the ground floor. The upper two floors were once flats. However, the flat on the first floor has been converted into a restaurant, which includes the balcony. Originally, there were flagpoles to the left and right of the balcony.

History

The Doležal couple applied for the demolition of their house and the butchery in 1936. The city hesitated to demolish the house because it suspected traffic disruptions. But at the end the building permit was granted in 1937. After that, everything happened very quickly. The old house was demolished in June and already on 28 August 1937 the house was handed over for use. It is assumed, that the architect František Kovář from Lomnice nad Popelkou built the house. Perhaps the three large, modern public buildings of Lomnice nad Popelkou inspired the couple to build a house with functionalist forms?Today, the house still houses a butchery on the ground floor. The flat on the first floor was converted into a restaurant and the balcony was converted into a terrace. Unfortunately, this resulted in the roofing, which deprives the house of its elegance. Nevertheless the building was listed in 2003.
