The majority owner of this company was the Municipality of Halle, in order to subsequently build housing for low-income earners. The building programme ended with World War II. The company was subsequently nationalised and was the mainstay of prefabricated housing in Halle during the times of GDR. Nowadays the company is called Hallesche Wohnungsgesellschaft mbH (HWG) and is owned by the city.
