We have only limited information about Václav Šulc. Together with Josef Jiroušek, he ran a construction company in Mnichovo Hradiště. They appear to have been well-versed in concrete structures, as before the Second World War they designed several bunkers commissioned by the Czechoslovak government for the country’s defense against Germany. Following the rise to power of the Communist Party in Czechoslovakia, their company was nationalized on October 28, 1948.
