Rudolf Schroeder studied with rather traditional orientated architects in Hannover and Stuttgart. At the end of the 1920s he went to Kiel and worked in various positions in the municipal building administration. He was therefore involved in a number of public buildings. After World War II, he primarily realised schools during the reconstruction of Kiel. He is regarded as Kiel's most outstanding city architect of the 20th century.
