Born into a Jewish family he Josef Hahn studied at Vienna Technical University in 1907 and 1908. From 1927 he designed several municipal buildings (Gemeindebauten) in Vienna. His villa projects in České Budějovice are particularly interesting for our website, as they show the modernity of his architectural work. After 1932 he most probably did not work as an architect anymore. Due to his Jewish descent, he emigrated to Shanghai, China, where he died in 1943.
