Jaroslav Grunt studied in Prague between 1912-19. He worked in Brno from 1920, e.g. to support the establishment of the newly founded Masaryk University.
His architecture was always characterised by clarity and simplicity. From 1923, he designed many detached houses, a few public buildings, but also the dam wall of the Brno reservoir.
After 1945 he was in the role of the chief municipal technical consultant and in 1948 the head of the first planning division of the technical office of the Central National Committee of the City of Brno and a professor at the Faculty of Architecture.
