Salák studied at Prague ČVUT. According to his age most probably at the end of the 1920s and the beginning of the 1930s. After his studies he stayed in Prague. Nevertheless, he took on several commissions in the city of his birth. Stylistically, he belonged to a group of architects who mixed new trends in architecture with traditional building methods. e. g. he always put a gable roof on houses. His best-known work is the Haišman House in České Budějovice.
