After completing his studies, Iván Kotsis devoted himself to study trips and worked as a lecturer at the Technical University. His work focussed on the most modern architectural trends of the time. However, until the 1920s in Hungary, this was primarily the use of neo-styles such as neo-Romanesque or neo-Baroque. In the 1930s he created several residential buildings in the modern style.
He continued to work in various planning offices after World War II and was involved in the reconstruction of destroyed buildings, including the Budapest Castle.
