Irvine W. Goldstine was a San Francisco–based architect. Educated at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he returned to California in the 1930s, where he prepared the design for the Malloch Building on Telegraph Hill in San Francisco before he had formally obtained his California architectural license. This explains why his name did not initially appear on the official construction documents for the Malloch Building and some sources attribute the building to the developers, the Mallochs. Goldstine received his state license in 1940, several years after completing the Malloch design.
Beyond his involvement with the Malloch Building, unfortunately we found relatively little about Goldstine’s life and career.
