He began working as an architect in Halle in 1925 and became the most important architect of the Kleinwohnungsbau Halle AG, responsible for building housing estates with small flats, the majority of which are located in the southern part of the city of Halle. Since the Halle city administration was rather conservative, all the housing estates except Vogelweide bear rather traditional building features.
