Gustav Schaupp, also recorded under the forenames Gottlob or Georg, worked alongside Ernst May on the project Neues Frankfurt. At the same time, he produced designs for projects in other cities. His participation in the 1946 competition for the reconstruction of St. Paul’s Church, a symbol of democracy, suggests that any involvement with German National Socialism is unlikely.
