Ferenc Domány

Ferenc Domány studied first in Budapest and went in 1923 to Berlin to finish his diploma. He stayed in Berlin, became a collegue of Peter Behrens and opened hos own office. He cooperated in many projects in Berlin.

In 1933, as Germany turned into a dictorship, he went back to Budapest. He joint with Béla Hofstätter in 1936. The two architects designed many famous buildings in Budapest. Some of them show similarities to buildings by Erich Mendelsohn. It can be assumed that Ferenc Domány brought these impressions to Budapest from his time in Berlin.The two were only able to work together until 1939. Domány decided to emigrate to the United Kingdom. There he won a prize for a plan for a new post office building. But he died in 1939 due to unknown circumstances.
