Cassiano Branco was a very productive Portuguese architect, that adopted many international trends into his work. First he studied in Portugal, but he was not satisfied with the qualitity of teaching. In 1926 and 1927 he degreed as an architect in Amsterdam, one of Europe's strong centres for modern architecture in the 1920s.
Caused by political situations in Portugal he mostly designed houses. But he also planned big holiday resorts and dams, that all were not realized.
Some of his pre-war plan became real after 1945.
