After studying at two universities in Prague, Adolf Benš gained experiences in the studio of Josef Gočár. He opened his own studio in Prague in 1925, which he ran until 1940. It was during this time that he created his highly regarded designs. In the period after World War II, he worked as a professor at the Prague Academy of Arts and Crafts.
