A cloth weaving mill still exists in the town today. Humpolec was called Bohemian Manchester in the 19th and 20th centuries. The prosperity of the inhabitants made it possible to erect several outstanding buildings in the modernist style. Humpolec is very easy to get to. Many buses between Prague and Brno stop in Humpolec.
