The Vesna association was founded in the 19th century with the intention of giving girls, or rather young women, better education and thus better prospects for a more independent life. After some older schools, this school and dormitory were built in 1929 and 1930 according to plans of Bohuslav Fuchs and Josef Polášek. Especially Polášek was familiar with Dutch trends in architecture. Some ideas from his visits in the Netherlands he implemented in his own work. The dormitory was established next to the school to guarantee women who were not from Brno the opportunity to get an education. This dormitory is named after Eliška Machová, a co-founder of the Vesna association.
In 1951, the association's school was closed and converted into a middle school with a medical profile. To this day, people are being trained for working in the healthcare sector. The dormitory is also still in use for students of the middle school.
Although these two buildings are very important and also represent early works of progressive purist architecture, they are not (yet) listed.
