Kvaternikov trg 13 / Vlaška 126 (1939)

At this prominent site, Bogdan Petrović created one of his most striking corner buildings in Zagreb. The two elongated façades, featuring tripartite windows and balconies facing the square, support a recessed top floor with roof terraces. The concrete pergola on the recessed top floor is particularly striking. It echoes the form of the building and signals that the space – the terrace – is open and airy.

At the corner, a highly distinctive cubic volume is inserted, incorporating four-part windows on Vlaška Street, which give the façade a notably broad appearance. Here too, the top floor contains a living space extending all the way to the front of the building.

The house was built in 1939 and has since enhanced the corner of Kvaternikov Square and Vlaška Street. With this design, the architect Bogdan Petrović created a classic example of International Modernism, distinguished by its simplicity and clarity.
