The information about this building are rare and it is always just mentioned, that the house is from 1935. Most probably it was the year of inauguration. So constructions works might had started in 1934.
The global economic crisis also hit Yugoslavia. Not immediately in 1929, but rather in the years 1931 to 1934, so it seems understandable that a job centre had to be set up during the period of greatest unemployment.
In Subotica live(d) many Hungarians. Hardly any modern architecture was built in Subotica during the interwar period. The few buildings, influenced by international trends, were public buildings designed by Serbian architects on commission.
We do not know how long the building was used in its original form. Unlike in other European socialist countries, the official unemployment in Yugoslavia after World War II was published. It would therefore be understandable if the building continued to be used in its original function.
Nowadays, various organisations use the rooms as offices.
