The only modernist villa in the region of the spa Mariánské Lázně

Description

The house consists of several cubes. The basic structure dates from 1932. In the second half of the 20th century, several changes were gradually made to the exterior. The same applies to the flagpole above the entrance made in 1999, which stylistically goes very well with the house's architecture.

A terrace on the south facade is placed on the winter garden. It is decorated with a pergola made of conrete.

The villa's name ERNA is placed above the entrance.

History

It is known, that the developer Erna Schneider bought the property in 1930 and that the house was built in 1932. The architect is unknown, but according to the style it might be an architect who was influenced by Adolf Loos. Until 1945 mostly German speaking people lived in the region of Mariánské Lázně. They prefered more traditional styles. This house is a rare example of 1930s modernist architecture in the Karlovy Vary district.

The last big renovation was done in 1999 with a lot of new details attached to the house, like the flagpole.
