These houses created a metropolitan setting on this central square, as it was called at the time of its construction. The buildings of the Mestská sporiteľňa bank and the Manderlák tower block, which are also located on the square as well, emphasise this designation as a ‘city’. The buildings are designed with seven storeys. The centre building features a two-storey superstructure. Despite their height, the length dominates the optical effect. Large windows are set in a fixed rhythm, giving the building a monumental yet plain appearance. The cladding with red ceramic tiles also earned the houses the name ‘Red Houses’ (červené domy).
Originally, there was a cinema in the building alongside the shops on the ground floor. The offices of the cooperative were located on the floors above. Appartments are put on the upper floors. The inner areas are connected by passages, a type of construction rarely used in Bratislava before. These lead into the courtyard with a one-storey construction.
On the corner of house number 15 is placed a sculpture called "harvest", refering to the importance of the house as the headquarter of the agricultural cooperative.
