Description

The building has two long wings along both streets. In the intersection area, the building is particularly characterized by the semicircular porch. The meeting room is housed in it. The facade area along Nikole Pašića Street is slightly recovered. This reinforces the light impression of the house. The square windows give the house its modern character, as does the small tower structure for the clock and the canopy above the entrance.

History

The city was badly damaged in the First World War. Afterwards, a lot of repairs were made and factories were reopened. A craft school was founded, so there was also a need for accommodation for apprentices. The house was originally designed as an apprentice house. The Yugoslav Kingdom was the client behind it. Niš was also the capital of the Moravska Banovina administrative unit. The need for something representative was high.

In 2024 the architect's son Mihajlo Medvedev campaigned for a memorial to be placed on the house stating that his father, Aleksandar Medvedev, was the architect of the house.
